Lions Medical Research Foundation, on behalf of its constitutional members, the Lions Clubs of Queensland and Northern New South Wales, adheres to the objectives and ethics of Lions Clubs International. Lions Medical Research Foundation is outcomes focused, responsive to community needs and committed to excellence in all activities. The Foundation is a community based, not for profit organisation dedicated to long term funding for medical research to improve the standard of health for all Australians and people throughout the world.
Since it began in 1963, Lions Medical Research Foundation has supported internationally recognized medical research across diverse fields. The Foundation does this by funding early career medical scientists whose work results in medical treatments that provide health benefits for all. Some examples of fields of research supported by the Foundation include cancer therapies, Parkinson’s disease, kidney disease, Asthma, Immunology, Ophthalmology, Toxicology, Diabetes, Cord Blood, In-vitro Corneal Transplant, bone and joint disease and many others. This research has contributed to a greater understanding of disease, its causes and treatments, and improved methods of treatment and prevention.
