Our Multiple District Convention at Townsville was an outstanding success and big congratulations are in order for LMRF Director, PDG Dianne Pyers, Convention Committee Chair and her team from Q2.
Several members from my Club of Rollingstone, proudly displayed their LMRF 1st Conventioneer’s ribbons and spoke enthusiastically about their experience. I guess I’m a bit of an old hand at MD Conventions. Townsville was my second, but I have only been a Lion for 6 years.
One of the important factors for a Convention is the weather and Townsville was at its best, but it’s not always that good – sometimes it can drop as low as 28C degrees…
The presentations were absolutely first class and in asking around, it was hard to choose the top 3. And the view across the channel was impressive with the ferry to Magnetic Island passing by adding to the picnic atmosphere of the meal breaks.
Our LMRF stand had periods of crowded excitement which was pleasing to participate in, as we passed along information, particularly to far-away Districts. Our two new Q2 LMRF Ambassadors, Gay Rebgetz and Max Gehring certainly had baptisms of fire at times!
I’m sure the effort by our LMRF crew at the stand, and Sue and Narelle’s efforts back at the Office have helped educate Lions about the need for commitment and support for our Foundation. We look forward to more opportunities like this one.
